Description

John Quincy Adams Land Grant Signed as President. One partially printed page of vellum, 15" x 9.25" (sight), "City of Washington"; November 22, 1825. A document granting "William Jackson, of Rush county, Indiana...lands offered for sale at Indianapolis, Indiana, containing eighty acres..." Certificate number 7174. Signed, "J. Q. Adams". Countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office George Graham. It has been handsomely matted and framed with a print of Adams to the overall size of 23" x 22". Not examined outside of the frame.

Condition: Appears partially silked on verso. Burn marks along upper margin. Insect damage resulting in scattered paper loss along upper and lower margins and one area at center of document, which measures approximately .5" x .5" (sight) and affects two words of text. Dampstaining, chiefly located along lower half of document, with some soiling and toning. Red wax seal at lower left partially intact.
