Description

1849 Gold Prospector Autograph Letter Signed "NH Wyse." One page, 8.25" x 10.75", San Francisco, California; December 1, 1849. Addressed to Wyse's sister Eliza and reads in part: "I hope you will not think that I have taken leave of my senses but there are so many people going who want to take bitters & if they do not reach it is of little or no consequence...I would like you to send me the different amounts I have paid you since the 28th July 1848 up to January 15 1850 with the cost of the carriage. I want to know how much I have spent that I have given to you. I have no account of. I mean the gold sent the first time & the small package of gold sent G. Lyson..."

Condition: Flattened mail folds with light toning and soiling.
