Description

Herbert Hoover Typed Letter Signed Referencing the 1929 Stock Market Crash. One page, 7.25" x 10.25", April 27, 1933. A letter addressed to Lawrence Richey, in part: "Would you see Senator Lenroot and ask him if you can have copies of his complete file of correspondence. What I wish is to demonstrate my complete anticipation and fears of the boom which developed in 1928-29. Lenroot will recall that I visited with him on the subject, and through him sounded a warning against the policies of the Board, which turned out as disasterously [sic] as I anticipated." With holographic emendations by Hoover and signed "Herbert Hoover" in black ink. From the Estate of Malcolm S. Forbes.

Condition: Usual mail folds, two holes punched along left vertical edge. Otherwise very fine.
