Description
Walt Disney Typed Letter Signed. One page, 7.25" x 10.5", signed "Walt Disney" (May 1, 1943) to James R. Angell, Chairman of the Copernican Quadricentennial Committee. Disney politely declines their invitation to participate in their celebration: "You are no doubt aware, at least generally, of the War Training films we are making for the Services and of the instructive films for certain Governmental agencies. This type of work calls for a tight schedule and with the steady decrease in man-power, you can imagine the long hours necessary to get these films through the plant and out to those points where they are so urgently needed."After the United States entered the Second World War in December 1941, Disney's production company produced numerous training and pro-American propaganda films to aid the war effort. From 1942 to 1945 Walt Disney Productions produced the equivalent of 68 total hours of film.
Condition: Retains staple in upper left corner, usual mail folds, else good condition.
