Description
Abraham Lincoln Military Commission Signed "Abraham Lincoln." One vellum page, partially printed, 13.25" x 19", Washington, D.C.; July 1, 1864. Appointing "Cornelius Hook Jr...Captain in the First Regiment of Artillery in the service of the United States..." With handsome engraved military and patriotic vignettes and countersigned by Edwin Stanton as Secretary of War. With the blue seal of the War Office. The top of the document has been trimmed so that the corners are rounded off and meet at a point at the top center edge.Condition: Flattened folds with holds and paper loss at some of the folds. Additional separations at folds in places. Chipping at the lower center edge. Light soiling throughout. Bold signature.
