Description
"D. B. Cooper" 1971 Ransom Money. Serial #L72738527B. Series 1963A $20 Federal Reserve Note. Certified and encapsulated by PCGS Currency with a custom insert picturing the 1971 artist's sketch of the sunglasses-wearing skyjacker. Found by eight-year-old Brian Ingram along the banks of the Columbia River in Washington on February 10, 1980, this is one of the only known group of currency notes that can be linked to the historic and infamous event.All the notes from this group were damaged by their exposure to the elements. This present example is in two segments- one approximately .75" x .9" in size overall, the other approximately 1.3" x 1.25" in size, both irregularly shaped and both with small holes. It features a partial Hamilton portrait and one partial serial number.
More Information: Accompanying this note will be a handsome illustrated Certificate of Authenticity from PCGS Currency relating the history of the D. B. Cooper skyjacking notes and confirming "that the serial number of the $20 note illustrated here matches one of the historic notes in the FBI's listing of ransom money given to Cooper, and subsequently found by Ingram." It is hand-signed by not only Jason W. Bradford as president and Laura A. Kessler as vice president of PCGS Currency, but also by Brian Ingram as finder of the notes.
