Description

Abraham Lincoln Military Appointment Signed. One partially printed page, 14.75" x 17.5" (sight), City of Washington; March 1, 1864. This document appoints "H.P. Whissel...Assistant Quartermaster of Volunteers with the rank of Captain in the service of the United States." Countersigned by Edwin Stanton as Secretary of War. With docketing and a green paper seal at the top left. Patriotic vignettes at the top and bottom margins. It has been matted and framed with an engraved portrait of Lincoln to an overall size of 39" x 26".

Condition: Ink is light throughout document. With flattened folds. Lightly rubbed.
