(4.75" x 7.75"). xxxvi (though last page is misprinted as xxvi), 360 pages. Frontispiece and folded plate. Later blue-green paper boards backed in navy blue cloth. Equiano's account of his life as an enslaved person, beginning with his childhood in Guinea, his capture and sale into slavery by his own kin, and his life in England and the West Indies before purchasing his freedom and converting to Christianity. A widely cited autobiography that grew in importance as the abolitionist movement gained momentum.

Condition: Boards rubbed and soiled with boards showing through and bumped corners. Edges roughly trimmed and toned. Pages 33-42 partially detached, but holding. Folded plate lightly foxed along edges. Some light toning and foxing internally.
