John F. Kennedy Presidential Motorcade Limousine Flag

[John F. Kennedy]. 1959-1963 Presidential limousine flag. This flag was retained as a memento by Secret Service Agent George W. Hickey, Jr., who served four U.S. presidents while serving in the United States Secret Service.

This 20" X 30" United States 50-Star, fringed automobile flag was used in Presidential motorcades during the administration of John F. Kennedy.

This sewn & embroidered Bemberg Rayon flag was manufactured by the Philadelphia Quarter Master Depot (PQMD) to exacting standards as specified in U.S. government blueprints.

A typed label inside the pole hem sleeve reads: "Job 5742 DTD. 8-27-59, P.Q.M.D., MFG. DIV," indicating this flag was ordered one week after the citizens of Hawaii voted in a referendum to accept statehood, making it one of the very first 50-star flags made for and by the U.S. government.

The flag is accompanied by a motorcade "Official Car, U.S. Secret Service" laminated placard, Mr. Hickey's laminated Association of Former Secret Service Agents signed card, and laminated luggage tag reading, "George W. Hickey / Room 179 /Executive Office Bldg. / Washington, D.C. / 20500."

Documented limousine flags from the Kennedy Administration are exceedingly rare.

Condition: Only slight yellowing to the white stripes in places. Very fine.
