Title-leaf is a cancel (BAL second state), page [9] with "Decided" (first state), page [13] with illustration listed on page 88 (BAL first state), page 57 reads "with the was" (BAL first state), page 283 is a cancel (BAL third state). Octavo. With inserted frontispiece and wood-engraved text illustrations by E. W. Kemble, inserted frontispiece portrait with the "Heliotype Printing Co." imprint and the tablecloth visible (BAL first state). Publisher's original pictorial green cloth, front board and spine stamped in black and gilt. Pale peach endpapers, all edges trimmed. Housed in a black cloth slipcase.

Condition: Minor wear to corners and head and tail of spine. Internally clean with only slight, scattered foxing, minor thumbsoiling, pencil ownership to title page.
