Boston: "Published for the Author," 1875. 12mo (5.25" x 7.75"). 320 pages. Frontispiece portrait. Publisher's black cloth with gilt stamped portrait of Truth to front board and gilt stamped spine. Signature to verso of front free endpaper, and again on page 111, reads, "Mary McCulla." Pencil annotation to recto of front free endpaper describes McCulla as formerly enslaved. Book is accompanied by a brief biographical sketch of McCulla.

Condition: Front board with slight soiling; corners bumped. Light edgewear with some board showing through. Joints of rear board just starting. Pencil notation to rear pastedown and front free endpaper. Uniform block of toning around frontispiece. Minute areas of soiling internally.
