William Goldman. The Princess Bride. Screenplay by William Goldman from his Novel. No place: Act III Communications Inc., May 3, 1986. "Revised Final Draft." Large octavo. [1, title], 122 pages; rectos only. Stiff mottled papers backed in black, secured with metal clip. Very minor edgewear, internally clean and tight. Housed in a buttercup yellow leather clamshell case; spine sunned, upper joint starting, somewhat rubbed and worn. Near fine.A beautiful copy of the final draft screenplay for the beloved fantasy adventure film, The Princess Bride (1987). The film was co-produced and directed by Rob Reiner and starred Cary Elwes and Robin Wright alongside an all-star cast. The film opened to acclaim from the critics, but surprisingly, only modest box office success. However, in the years since, it has quickly become a cult classic, so much so that many of the quotes are now a part of our everyday lives. The film was selected in 2016 for preservation by the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress and continues to inspire creative spin-offs, shadow casts, live readings, and declarations of true love to this day. Property from the Estate of William Goldman, New York City. This lot comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Mr. Goldman’s daughter, Ms. Jenny Goldman.
