George Eliot. Silas Marner: The Weaver of Raveloe. Edinburgh: 1861. First edition. Octavo. [6], 364, 16 [publisher's catalog] pages (note: lacking the two leaves of Carlyle ads). Publisher's orange cloth spine stamped in gilt, boards in blind; text block edges rough-trimmed; pale yellow endpapers. Binding generally a bit worn with some mild soiling; spine ends pushed; bumping to board edges and corners, resulting in boards peeking through cloth at corners and along bottom edge of front board. Hint of smudging to endpapers. Text block softly dulled, with several gatherings roughly opened and mild foxing to edges; occasional faint, marginal soiling and other evidence of handling scattered throughout interior. Very good.
