Signed and inscribed by the author to Terry Halladay, presumably the antiquarian bookdealer (William Reese Co., ABAA), to the front free endpaper recto, "For Terry Halladay / With my best / wishes / Larry McMurtry." Octavo. 179, [5] pages. Publisher's black paper over boards stamped in black, backed in yellow cloth, spine stamped in black; original illustrated dust jacket designed by Alex Tsao. Minor edgewear. A bright copy of the author's first novel, published when he was just 25. Source material for the 1971 American Western film, Hud, co-written and directed by Peter Bogdanovich and starring Paul Newman.
