Frontispiece, vignette title-page and thirty-eight additional inserted plates. Original publisher's olive diaper-grain cloth; front and back stamped in blind; spine stamped in gilt and blind. Spine faded to light brown, with minor fading to fore-edges of boards; some bumping to corners and top edge; mild wear to edges and hinges; two faint creases causing thinning to cloth along vertical length of spine. Subtle spots of splashing and scuffing to front and back boards. Light dust soiling to top edge of text block; softening and bumping to edges and corners. Evidence of repair to inner hinges, with some minor splash-soiling and creasing; very minor chipping to fore-edge of front free endpaper. Frontispiece and inserted vignette title-page toned. First page of text loosened at top with backing thinly exposed. Very minimal spotting throughout text and plates; occasional light foxing. Bookplate on front pastedown; trimmed catalog entry affixed to front free endpaper. Very good. Completely unopened, but for table of contents. Eckel pp. 83-4; Gimbel A141.
