8vo. Publisher's black cloth, spine stamped in gilt.; original dust jacket.

FIRST EDITION. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR on the front free endpaper: "C. S. Lewis."

Kenneth Peter Storer (1924-2007) read English at University College, Oxford, where Lewis also studied as an undergraduate some twenty years prior. Though a Fellow and Tutor in English at Magdalen College when Storer was an Oxford student, Lewis would also take English tutorials for University College students as the school had no English fellow at the time. Under these circumstances, Storer met Lewis, and the two developed a friendship. Storer dined with Lewis on a number of occasions, where Lewis gifted the student some of his signed works.

References: Christopher & Ostling VI.B.6.

Provenance: K. P. Storer (according to bookseller's description laid-in); acquired from Jonkers Rare Books, Henley on Thames. From the William A. Strutz Library.
