Description
Virginia Woolf. Jacob's Room. Richmond: Hogarth Press, 1922. First edition, subscriber's issue, limited to forty copies with a printed slip tipped in between the front endpapers, filled out in manuscript ink and signed by the author, dated Oct. 1922. Octavo. 290, 14, ads pages. Publisher's bright orange cloth, printed paper label on spine. Spine slightly askew; backstrip and paper label faintly dulled and lightly rubbed; some light even soiling. Rear hinge starting; occasional minor over-opening; text block faintly toned. Very good. Kirkpatrick A6a.Logan Pearsall Smith (1865-1946) was an American-born English writer and critic. Although he had an excellent reputation as a brilliant essayist, his connection to Virginia Woolf is an excellent one: his niece, Karin Stephen (a well-known psychologist) was married to Adrian Stephen, Virginia Woolf's brother. She and her husband were members of "Old Bloomsbury," as designated by Woolf's husband, Leonard.
