Ralph Ellison. Invisible Man. New York: Random House, [1952]. First edition. Signed by the author to the title page. Octavo. 439 pages. Publisher's cloth, half black and half pictorial beige stamped in gray, spine lettered in white; original illustrated dust jacket. Head and foot of spine pushed, lettering on spine rubbed, spine sunned, minor soiling. Cream endpapers; foxed, effaced label and pencil notations to the front free endpaper recto, minor offsetting. Internally clean and tight, all edges trimmed; minor intermittent foxing, text block edges toned with minor wear and foxing. Dust jacket price clipped; moderate edgewear, chipping to head and foot of spine, corners, and edges with some losses, creased along folds, somewhat rubbed, spine sunned. Housed in custom black cloth clamshell case, spine stamped in gilt. Very good book with very good dust jacket.Auction Info
