Description

Edward E. Smith. Partial Skylark Duquesne Manuscript. [N.p., n.d. circa 1965]. Original typescript with holographic pencil and ink editorial corrections. Approximately 8.5 x 11 inches. 145 pages, including several second copies and/or alternate versions of some pages. With nine original ink illustrations by Gray Morrow. Incomplete, with signed note from science fiction author and collector William B. Ellern: "The manuscript for Skylark Duquesne is incomplete. / The second half was promised to me, but never delivered. / William B. Ellern." Unbound sheets housed in an accordion folder. General toning and handling wear with some tearing, chips on edges, and creasing. Dust soiling and smudging of graphite affecting several sheets. Small holes on upper halves of sheets, often affecting text. Faint ring from coffee mug on center-left of first paragraph on page 26, the common totem of writers and editors alike. New paragraph tipped-on page 106 with cellophane tape. Very good.
