FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 1,239 of an unspecified number (speculated about 1,500 copies) SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. The author's first book, and winner of the National Book award, which was the basis for the 1953 movie starring Montgomery Clift, Burt Lancaster, Frank Sinatra, and Deborah Kerr.
Condition: Minor bumping to board corners; tiny split at foot of spine. Dust jacket unclipped (priced "$4.50"), with very slight wear at edges, with one short closed tear on rear panel; minor soiling. Overall, a very fine copy in better condition than usually encountered.
