Three large octavo volumes. With 155 hand-colored plates by W. E. Hitchcock and R. Trembly after John James and John Wodehouse Audubon. Publisher's full brown morocco, boards ruled and paneled in gilt, spines ruled and tooled in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, gilt board edges and turn-ins, yellow coated endleaves. Bindings heavily worn, volumes with repairs to joints, , text block of volume II is loose, and rear board of volume II is nearly detached, lower part of spine of volume I is loose. Previous owner's signature ("Samuel Southard 1855") on each front free endpaper. Light toning, scattered foxing to plates and text. A good set, sold as is. Audubon's last great publication.
