Ten Color Plates Illustrating the History of
Napoleon's Final Campaigns and Exile
[Napoleon Bonaparte]. Robert Bowyer. An Illustrated
Record of Important Events in The Annals of Europe, during the Last
Four Years; comprising a series of views of the principal places,
battles, etc. etc. etc. connected with those events.
London: Printed by T. Bensley and Son, 1816. An account of Napoleon
Bonaparte's withdrawal from Moscow and the events leading his final
exile on St. Helena in 1815.Tall folio. Seven single page color plates, three double page fold-out color plates, one full page black and white map, one full page black and white facsimile letter with facsimile signatures, and an in text engraving of St. Helena on last page. Printed "Directions to the binder..." sheet with pen holograph annotations bound in back. Printed on watermarked "J. Whatman/ 1814 [and] 1816" paper. 30, [18] pages. Half leather and paper covered boards. Most of paper rubbed off boards, boards scratched and scored, leather cracking and rubbed, gilt title rubbed on spine, edge wear and corner bumps, front joint cracked attached at binding strings, front hinge cracked, rear joint splitting at head and foot, rear hinge cracked; pencil and pen holograph notes on front free endpaper, double plate of "Precipitate Flight of the French Through Leipsic..." fold separation repaired with paper on verso, additional vertical fold in both double plates of "Moscow" and "Grand Entry of the Allied Sovereigns into Leipsic", light text printing off-set on single color plates to varying degrees, small edge tears to plates, browning to page edges, creases, soiling, staining, and foxing, else an internally good book in a heavily worn binding.
