West. New York: Julius Bien, 1870. First edition. Large quarto.
viii, 150 pages, with half-title present, thirty illustrated
photographic plates. Contemporary dark green half-morocco over
green cloth, spine in six compartments with five raised bands, all
edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Boards lightly rubbed, spine and
joints worn. Glue remnants on upper-third of front pastedown. Front
and rear hinges cracked. Small slip of bibliographical information
affixed to front free endpaper verso. Scattered foxing affecting
text and plates, plates somewhat cockled. Still a very good copy of
this landmark photo book.
