Twentieth-century quarter brown morocco over marbled paper-covered boards, spine in six compartments, two gilt-lettered red morocco labels, ruled and tooled in gilt, compartments tooled and decoratively stamped in blind, boards with single gilt rule. Plain white endpapers, flyleaves. Board edges worn at corners, touch of rubbing to front board of third volume. Light occasional marginal soiling or staining. Near fine, housed in a custom clamshell case by the Dragonfly Bindery. According to T. S. Eliot, "the first, the longest, and the best of modern English detective novels."
