Description

Thomas Mun. England's Treasure by Forraign Trade. Or, the balance of our forraign trade is the rule of our treasure. London: Printed by J. Flesher for Robert Horne [and John Mun], 1669. Second edition. Octavo. [vi], 155, [1, blank] pages. Early quarter-calf over marbled boards, rebacked with original black leather spine label, lettered in gilt, laid down. Corners bumped and rubbed with boards showing, moderate edgewear, rubbed and worn with some losses. Cream endpapers, edges trimmed and sprinkled red; hinges weak but holding, minor offsetting and foxing, bookplate to front pastedown, clipped catalog descriptions and penciled bookseller's notations to the front endpapers. Internally generally clean; offsetting, text block trimmed close along the top margin (just touching text in a few places) and toned along margins, minor foxing and thumbsoiling, text block edges toned with minor wear. Very good.

A charming edition of this keystone title in the history of economics, written by one of the last early mercantilists. This title was notable for challenging many of the commonly held views of its time and influencing economic theory and policy well into the future.
