[John Coffee "Jack" Hays]. James Jones and William S. Jones Payment Request Signed. One page, 7.75" x 12" Fort Bend, April 15, 1854. Addressed to the State of Texas this letter requests payments for "military services performed to the late Republic of Texas in the Spring and Fall of the year 1842". Both men served under the legendary Texas Ranger Jack Hays and helped repel two invasions of San Antonio by a force from Mexico in 1842. Folds. Slight smudging of ink.Auction Info
