Description

Annie Oakley: Oversized Signed Photograph as The Western Girl. This is the last of the series of the White Studio portraits taken by Edward Thayer Monroe. In some ways it is the most stunning, and the most unusual. Annie is wearing her silk scarf and Western Girl wig. But note her left eye. She suffered from periodic eye infections exacerbated by gunpowder residue and smoke. Yet she remains confident and proud of her appearance. A very fine, clear Annie Oakley autograph on verso. The image is 8" x 6". The card is soiled around the edges with marginal bumps and chips. The picture is excellent. This lot is from the collection of Bess Edwards, grand-niece of Annie Oakley, and will be accompanied by a signed letter from her authenticating this item as described.
