Description

Revolutionary War: Allegorical Engraving Related to the Boston Tea Party and Its Aftermath. 18.25" x 15.5" engraving titled "The Tea-Tax Tempest, or the Anglo-American Revolution", with alternate titles in Flemish and French. Father Time presents a magic lantern show that depicts an exploding teapot flanked by European troops one one side and American troops on the other. A Liberty Cap on a pole is being blown away. The spectators to the show include a Native American, an African lady and two white women representing European countries. Scattered foxing with repaired 5/8" circular section in the upper right background.
