Description

Gettysburg Reunion Flag: 65th Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry. Wonderful 65th NY Gettysburg reunion flag. The 45-star wool flag measures 48" on the hoist and 84" on the fly. It is stenciled "GAR 65 N.Y.V. Gettysburg Reunion". On the hoist is the date "1900" in pencil. The flag has fading, but is in overall fine condition with some old repairs. The 65th served three years, and was also known as the "U.S. Chausseurs". They were heavily engaged at the Seven Days Battles, loosing 68 men. They were at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville before proceeding to Gettysburg in late June. The regiment had 4 KIA and 5 WIA on July 2 and 3 1863 at Gettysburg. A great display piece.
