Description

San Francisco Earthquake of 1906: Enamel Badge and Ephemera. Framed presentation of items related to the Great San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of 1906. The highlight is an 1.75" x 1.75" brass and enamel badge that was in use & current at the time of the event. It reads: "Admit the Bearer Within the Fire Lines July 1 1905 June 30 1906 Fire Commissioners Thos. F. Finn President". Sold with a typewritten and manuscript pass dated April 29, 1906 signed by a captain & adjutant of the 20th Infantry, a real photo postcard of burning buildings, a stereoview of damaged buildings and a small key which, we assume, was used to access fire alarm boxes. An empty spot indicates that another badge, of different shape, was at one time part of the display, but it is no longer present.
