Description

Confederate Blockade Runner Stock Certificate.
The Chicora Company was famous for its importing and exporting business and owned the famous paddlewheel steamers General Beauregard, Chicora and Wando. The bearer "George W. Williams" is entitled to two shares for $1,000 each. Dated December 30, 1864 this certificate measures 8.25" x 5" and is printed on typical blue paper. These bonds were sold to build blockade-runners for the South. This one even has a red ink payment notation for July 20, 1869 canceling a personal loan of $120 taken against the certificate. A great Civil War certificate issued to help fight the war.
