War of 1812: National Intelligencer with Battle of Fort McHenry Content. September 15, 1814 issue of the "National Intelligencer", Washington City, 13" x 20", 2pp single sheet. The issue contains an op-ed urging patriotic support of the war effort, lists of American and British casualties, battle reports including one titled "Huzza for Baltimore!" signed by Secretary of War James Monroe in which he reports the successful repulse of British forces. This was the Battle of Fort McHenry which inspired Francis Scott Key to write the "Star Spangled Banner".

Condition: Rough edges to spine, scattered light foxing.
