1777 German Map of the American Colonies: America Septentrionalis a Domino D'Anville in Galliis edita nunc in Anglia Coloniis in Interiorem Virginiam deductis nec non Fluvii Ohio... Homann Heirs, 1777. Measures 20" x 18" to the neat line, with an overall size of 24.75" x 20.9". Text in German at top left and lower right, with decorative cartouche and bold outline coloring. The detailed map depicts the British Colonies in North America, published at the height of the American Revolution for a German audience. The boundaries are British leaning, and include the various British colonial claims and forts. Many Indian tribes are also identified.Condition: Trace offsetting in the margins, band of discoloration runs vertically at center. Otherwise, an excellent example, with evidence of the original copper plate along the perimeters of the neat line.
