Description
[Reconstruction Era] Large 36-Star Silk American Flag. Large 75" x 77" stitched silk flag (circa 1865-1868).Condition: The flag presents clean and bright but is fragile with several scattered minor separations and tears throughout. The header is separated in a few places and recent makeshift repairs with scotch tape have been applied in one location at the edge for reinforcement. The tape likely easily removed, should be replaced with professional restitching for a permanent repair. Overall an impressive and beautiful banner retaining a fine sheen to the silk fabric.
