Description
Zachary Taylor: Family Owned Cameo. This is, without question, the finest political cameo we have ever seen! It is unsigned and unmounted and measures 1 1/2" x 2". It shows a finely detailed portrait of Taylor in profile, wearing the "muffin" hat so popular during the Mexican-American War. The portrait fills up nearly the entire surface of the oval foundation. This item was owned by Zachary Taylor's youngest daughter, Ann Mackall Taylor and her husband, Richard Crooke Wood. It will be accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from the consignor detailing its line of ownership.Auction Info
