Description

Governor Samuel Adams: Portrait Mezzotint. 3 7/8" x 6 1/2" mezzotint framed to an overall size of 5 1/2" x 8", c. 1795. One of our founding fathers, and leader of the movement that became the American Revolution. Adams served as Governor of Massachusetts from 1794-1797. Locating period pieces dating to founding fathers is a difficult task, especially when serving in public office. The only other example we could source is housed at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC.

Condition: Light soiling, else fine
