4-Digit 7th Cavalry Custer U.S. Colt Single Action Army Revolver. Serial no. 5467 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt], .45 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front blade sight and frame notch rear sight. Nickel-plated finish. Top of barrel marked: - COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A. -. Two-line, two-date patent stamped to left side of frame. Ainsworth "A" inspector mark to base of barrel, cylinder, triggerguard and backstrap. "P" stamped to base of barrel and cylinder. Period replacement grips etched with floral scrolls and the Mexican eagle and snake motif on left side with floral scrolls and buffalo hunting scene on right side. Manufactured in 1874. The serial number falls in the range of Custer's 7th Cavalry troops. Accompanied by John A. Kopec letter dated October 3, 2018.

Condition: Good as reconfigured and refinished. Retaining approximately 85-95% of a re-nickeled finish with scattered wear, flaking and scratches overall. U.S. markings removed from frame. Grips are period replacements. Action needs minor adjustment. Strong bore. The Michael Ward Collection of Western Americana
