Description

"Universalist Watchman": Volume of Bound Newspapers with 1830 Book of Mormon Content. 12.5" x 17.5" volume containing a run of issues extending from May 1, 1830 to April 23, 1831. Published by W. Bell of Woodstock, Vermont. Presented by Rev. M. H. Smith to Benjamin W. Stevens. The last page of the May 29, 1830 issue contains a printing of Joseph Smith's Preface to the Book of Mormon, plus full text of thirteen signed witness statements published with the famous article on the "Blasphemy" of the Book of Mormon, the first widely published article on same. Bound in leather with stiff boards.

Condition: Good overall with typical wear and foxing.
