With a Typed Letter Signed by Roosevelt affixed to the front free endpaper, in which Roosevelt declines to write a patriotic poem, due to his lack of experience in that genre (on personal stationery, dated March 5th, 1915). Four volumes (the Stowe title is in two volumes). Octavo. Various paginations. With illustrations. Thackeray's Letters is bound in twentieth-century full green morocco, gilt; the others are bound in original publisher's cloth. Some sunning to spines, some rubbing to bindings, a few joints starting, the first gathering of Oliver Cromwell is a bit loose, some bookplates, bookseller's tickets. Generally very good or better.
