With a Typed Letter Signed by Roosevelt affixed to the front free endpaper, in which Roosevelt declines to write a patriotic poem, due to his lack of experience in that genre (on personal stationery, dated March 5^th, 1915). Four volumes (the Stowe title is in two volumes). Octavo. Various paginations. With illustrations. Thackeray's Letters is bound in twentieth-century full green morocco, gilt; the others are bound in original publisher's cloth. Some sunning to spines, some rubbing to bindings, a few joints starting, the first gathering of Oliver Cromwell is a bit loose, some bookplates, bookseller's tickets. Generally very good or better.
