Benjamin Franklin executes his duties as President of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania

Benjamin Franklin Land Grant Signed as President of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania. One page, on vellum, 402 x 341 mm. [Philadelphia], October 24, 1787. A land grant documenting the transfer of 447 3/4 acres of land "unto the said John Good a certain tract of Land called 'Over Rule' situate on the head Branches of Furginson's Camp Branch in Quemahoning Township Bedford County..." from Solomon Penrod "In Witness whereof His Excellency Benjamin Franklin Esq. President of the supreme Executive council..." Paper seal embossed with the official Seal of the State of Pennsylvania at upper left recto. Signed by Franklin as president in the left margin under the seal, "B. Franklin." Countersigned by Charles Biddle as secretary, "Char. Biddle Secy." Docketed on verso, with blind embossed paper seal to the same.

Condition: Scattered soiling and a few small stains, a few small wrinkles and old folds, small tear along old fold, not affect text. Ink blot partially obscuring "Char." in the Biddle signature. Repairs to blank left margin, not affecting text or signatures. Seal of Pennsylvania intact, reinforced with Japanese tissue. Two small pieces of cello tape affixed to verso.
