Description
Alan Shepard Color Photo and "Project Mercury" First Day Cover Signed. There are two signed items in this lot: (1) a 10" x 8" official NASA color Apollo 14 photo, signed "To Marshall J. Beverley with personal regards- Alan Shepard". (2) a first day cover with a block of four 4¢ U.S. Project Mercury stamps (Scott #1193), addressed to "Hon. Marshall J. Beverley", and signed vertically at the left edge "Alan B Shepard Jr". Also included in this lot: an Apollo 14 Navy Recovery Cover with a rubber-stamped cachet, cancelled on board the U.S.S. New Orleans February 9, 1971; a Bendix Launch Support Division cacheted launch cover for Apollo 14, cancelled at the Kennedy Space Center January 31, 1971; and a sheet of the Project Mercury stamps in a Post Office presentation folder.
