Description

John Young's Personal ID Badge for the Space Shuttle External Tanks Assembly Plant Directly from his Personal Collection, Certified and Signed. A laminated pass, 3" x 4.5", attached to a clip. It reads, in full: "NASA/ National Aeronautics and Space Administration/ MICHOUD ASSEMBLY FACILITY/ OFFICIAL VISITOR". "John W. Young" and "Astronaut" have been entered as name and title. A line drawing of the facility is featured. It is dated "Apr 28 1997" on the verso. The MAF is located in eastern New Orleans, Louisiana and is used by NASA contractor Lockheed Martin as a construction plant. It is a giant facility, with forty-three acres under one roof. Previous to the shuttle external tank program, Michaud built the first stages of the Saturn 1B and Saturn V rockets. Excellent condition.

On the back of the badge, Young has written: "My badges. John Young".
