Description

Apollo 7: Grumman Crew Abbreviated Checklist Mission AS-205/208A Apollo SC101 Book. An early Grumman-published document dated "1 March 1967" with a number of "LMA790-3-LM2/CL", 5.5" x 8" x 2" thick, approximately 325 pages printed on lightweight cardstock and held together with large binder rings. Interestingly, this was published before the naming of this particular mission as Apollo 7 and only about a month after the tragic Apollo 1 fire. It consists of twenty tabbed sections including "RCS Translation," "Undocked IMU Alignment," "Earth Orbital Checkout,""LM Active Docking," "LM Separation from CSM," and many more. Very good condition with soiling and heavy use evident.

Apollo 7 was essentially the "shakedown" cruise of the newly-redesigned command/service module and a mission of many firsts: the first launch of the Apollo program, our first three man crew, and the first manned launch of the Saturn IB rocket. It was a technical success that led to the Apollo 8 mission to the moon just two months later. Commander Wally Schirra became the only man to fly in all three NASA space programs, Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo, on this flight.
