Andrew Johnson: Military Appointment for William P. Robeson Jr. with Stamped Signature.

One partially printed page of vellum, 14" x17" (sight), City of Washington, May 28, 1866. A document appointing "William P. Robeson...the rank of Brigadier General by brevet...for gallant and meritorious service in the battles of Five Forks and Southside Railroad, Virginia..." Boldly signed, "Andrew Johnson". Countersigned by Edwin Stanton as secretary of war. With docketing and blue paper seal at top left. Patriotic vignettes at the top and bottom margins. It is framed to the overall size of 17.5" x 21.25". Not examined outside of the frame.

Condition: Signature is a stamp. Secretarial text a bit light. Lightly rubbed with scattered soiling and foxing. Frame with some wear and scratches.
