Walter Winchell Owned Smith & Wesson Model 37 Airweight Double Action Revolver.

Serial no. 232091, .38 caliber, 1 7/8-inch barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rear sight. Blued finish. Case-hardened hammer and trigger. Checkered walnut grip panels with inlaid S&W medallions. Contained in unmarked suede holster, but handwritten SOUZA 10340 with black marker outlines the rig, Souza was an L.A.P.D. Detective according to research done by consignor.
Note: According to consignor records, revolver was previously owned by American columnist Walter Winchell. Printed paperwork submitted by consignor is included. Walter was once the most powerful journalist in the world, he was a close friend J. Edgar Hoover and brokered the surrender of Louis "Lepke" Buchalter of Murder, Inc to Hoover.
