Civil War: VII Corps Badge Identified to Private David C. George, Indiana 31st Infantry, Listed as Died on March 22, 1863.

Gilded-brass, pinback, pendant measures 51 x 7 mm, supporting a VII Corps badge engraved "David C. George" on the obverse of the crescent and "Here We Rest" on the reverse of the crescent. The badge itself measures 40 x 57 mm. The badge is mounted to a light-blue silk ribbon. David C. George enlisted on September 20, 1861 as a Private and mustered into "H" Company, Indiana 31st Infantry. He died on March 22, 1863 at Louisville, Kentucky. The regiment sustained 120 battle deaths and 258 casualties as a result of disease, accidents, etc.

Condition: Some light surface scratching and loss to the gilt, otherwise in very good condition.
