Description
U.S. Springfield 1847 Percussion Rifle.Unserialized, .68 caliber, 42-inch barrel with fixed front sight. Left side of barrel marked: V / P / (eagle head) proof marks. Upper tang stamped: 1853. Lock marked: SPRING / FIELD / 1847 and (eagle) / U.S. Smooth walnut full-stock with three barrel bands and two sling swivels. Metal ramrod, triggerguard and U.S. stamped buttplate.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Dings and scuffs present to wood. Crisp action. Strong bore.
