Description

Marlin Model 1893 Lever Action Rifle.

Serial no. 284063 [receiver], .30-30 caliber, 26-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and rear elevation sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Marlin address and patent dates to top of barrel. Top of action marked: MARLIN SAFETY. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Checkered hard rubber buttplate. Manufactured in 1903.
It was produced by the Marlin Firearms Company from 1893 until it was succeeded by the Marlin Model 36 in 1936. However, the "1893" design still served as the basis for later Marlin rifles like the Model 336, which is still in production today.

Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth dark grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear, age and fine patches of pitting. Minors scratches present to wood. Some loss to right side of fore-end and scuff to base of stock. Action good. Strong bore. From the Collection of James Schubert.
