Description

English-Made Eagle's Head Pommel U.S. Infantry Officers' Sword. 32 ½-inch straight blade panoplies of arms and other foliate engraving accented in gilt. The blade is marked "Warranted" indicating English manufacture. The gilded-brass hilt features an eagle's head pommel, knuckle-bow decorated with five beads with a semi-circular branch similarly decorated. Fluted bone handle. Black leather scabbard with gilded-brass throat and drag.

Condition: About very good. The hilt is slightly loose and retains traces of the gilt. The majority of the gilt on the blade remains intact. The blade is mottled with dark spots from scabbard storage. The scabbard has a modern tape repair holding a break near the center and is generally fragile overall.
