Description
Apollo 12 Flown Custom-Fitted Communications Earpiece Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean, with Handwritten LOA. A custom-molded orange earpiece of approximately 1" x 0.75" x 1.125" overall. Attached is an 11.25" long narrow connecting tube/ cable. This was attached to the internal communications system. Each astronaut's earpiece was specially made for extra comfort on the long mission. Light wear, excellent.Included in this lot is a handwritten and signed Letter of Authenticity on his personal letterhead. It reads, in full:
"I hereby certify that the accompanying earpiece traveled with me to the moon aboard our Command Module, 'Yankee Clipper' in November 1969.
"This was a custom earpiece that I used during launch from Earth on my Apollo 12 mission.
"It has been in my personal collection since that time.
"Alan Bean Apollo 12 LMP"
